for a while now, ryan and i have been talking about taking a trip to washington, d.c. but we never seem to find the time to get there. so, i was really excited when i found out that i had to attend a conference for work that was going to be held in d.c. this fall.
i spent the past week in d.c. at the conference and i just got home this weekend. ryan couldn't go to d.c. with me, but i still had a ton of fun by myself. between conference workshops and sessions, i had the opportunity to get out and explore the city quit a bit. even though i was in d.c. in the midst of the government shutdown, i was still able to see many famous landmarks and monuments around the city.
^the u.s. capitol building^
^the washington monument (covered in scaffolding)^
^the lincoln memorial^
^the library of congress^
^the white house^
^the lafayette statue in lafayette square^
^the u.s. treasury building^
^the sherman monument in sherman plaza^

What beautiful architecture on the buildings. You pictures really show their grandeur. I am glad you we able to see the sites even with the shut down.
Very pretty photos!
We live close to D.C., but hardly ever make it down there. Glad you were able to enjoy it.
