friday was ryan's birthday so we took the day off work and spent the entire day celebrating. we kicked the birthday boy's morning off with blueberry waffles and then drove up to lake wallenpaupack. the weather was absolutely gorgeous all day and it was the perfect day to spend the day outside.
we walked around the lake and then had lunch at a great restaurant overlooking the lake. it was so nice! after lunch, we grabbed an ice cream and then took a boat tour on the lake. it was so peaceful to sail around the lake and to learn all about the history of the lake.
later in the afternoon we walked around the nearby town of honesdale before going out to dinner and then coming home to open birthday presents. we had a great day celebrating ryan's birthday on friday!
^we had lunch at ehrhardt's waterfront restaurant overlooking the lake. the weather was absolutely perfect so we ate outside on their patio. we each had a cup of soup and half of a sandwich. they are known for their homemade creamy tomato crab bisque and it certainly lived up to its reputation. i keep thinking about that soup and can't wait to make it at home.^
^the sandwiches were really good too. such a great summer lunch.^
^after lunch we split an ice cream at coutt's. we tried their homemade apple pie ice cream and it was so good. it had a great cinnamon flavor and little pieces of graham cracker pie crust swirled through it too. i'm thinking about making that at home this fall.^
^we took a boat tour of the lake and it was so great. the tour guide was awesome and the breeze felt so refreshing as we sailed around the lake. the birthday boy loves being on/in/near water, so it was a great outing for his birthday.^
^after the boat tour, we heading to the nearby town of honesdale and walked around for a bit.^
^later in the evening we headed to the olde brook inn for dinner. we had never been there before, but it was recommended to us by several people. ryan had a coupon for a free appetizer, so we shared the crab smoked gouda dip with homemade chips. for dinner we split a pizza and for dessert we split a crazy peanut butter landslide pie. all of the food was so good and we walked out of there absolutely stuffed. we definitely can't wait to go back. we loved eating outside on the patio and the great atmosphere there.^
^at the end of the night we came home and ryan to opened his birthday presents. of course he had a furry little helper to show him how to properly pull off the ribbons!^
happy birthday, ryan!

That sounds like a great way to spend a birthday!
Great weather for a very nice itinerary for a birthday celebration. The soup look very good, especially since it has crab in it. I like the mural. Mighty large scoop of ice cream and the flavor sounds delicious. All the food look good.
