stepping back in time at the troxell-steckel farm

on saturday, we visited the troxell-steckel farm which is an authentic pennsylvania german farm near ryan's parents' house.  the stone farmhouse (in the first picture) was built in 1756 and the barn (in the second picture) was built in the 19th century.  the farm is even on the national register of historic places.

we stepped back in time to experience a historically recreated christmas eve from 1842 on the farm.  although we couldn't take pictures during the tour, i did snap a few photos before the tour started, right before the sun went down.  i just loved the lighting on the farm right before sunset.

love, laurie

The buildings look like they are very well maintained and very pretty.

That was an interesting step back into the German history of Christmas traditions. I love the old traditions that we still do today, like port and sauerkraut.
