there have been a lot of early mornings in the schedule lately.  what gets us through those early wake ups is this cute guy.  i love when this guy is cuddled up in bed and looking out the window in the early morning as the sun is coming up . . . usually listening to the birdies waking up too!

honoring our area's athletes

last wednesday evening, our area's local newspaper honored the best of the best in high school sports at our theatre for their annual athlete of the week awards ceremony.  the winners had impressive credentials.  you can read more about the event here.

dance recital weekend!

we've worked countless dance recitals this season, but two of the ones we're working this weekend are for the studio where i teach!  i'm excited to see my little dancers take the stage after spending the last season teaching them!. fingers crossed!

looking at our calendars, the entire month of june is one dance recital right after another . . . 'tis the season!  this weekend we had two back-to-back and this weekend coming up we have four back-to-back!  we're definitely ready for naps!

a visit from family

ryan's aunt and uncle came into town a few weekends ago to visit ryan's parents.  we were happy to be able to carve out a little bit of time between work to see them!

a little birthday celebration

friday was ryan's dad's birthday.  since we had a dance recital that night at the theatre, we had a little impromptu birthday celebration in my office before the show complete with pizza and cupcakes that ryan's mom made before the show.  thanks to the birthday boy for ushering a dance recital on his birthday!

father's day 2021

we celebrated father's day with our parents at our house after work yesterday.  we got together for dinner and enjoyed vegetarian "chicken" and buttermilk waffles, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and corn.  for dessert we cooled off with a refreshing lime pie.  yum!

a kayak date on the lake

for y-e-a-r-s we have been talking about going kayaking but it always gets pushed off.  we've kayaked together in various locations on vacation, but never locally.  last summer we finally decided to go but there were no kayaks to be found in stores or online because of the pandemic.  this year, we bought one in early may before they sold out.  it's been hanging in our basement ever since waiting for a day when we were both free to get out on the water.  

the stars finally aligned and we were both able to take yesterday off work.  we picked up ryan's kayak from high school from his parents' house and pulled my new one out of the basement.  we drove up to lackawanna state park and enjoyed several hours on the lake.  

even though it was overcast and cool, we had ourselves a grand time!  we were only 14 miles away from home, but we felt like we escaped far away from the craziness of our work schedules for a few hours.  it was so therapeutic!  

we got a great workout (my shoulders are sore from all that rowing) and saw a ton of wildlife too!  it was a great day and we can't wait to take our kayaks out again!  here are a few photos we snapped on our old water camera . . . .

way to go, ryan!

a few months ago ryan found out that he won an employee award at work for outstanding service for an event that he ran.  his prize was a gift certificate for one of the specialty dining restaurants at the resort where he works.  we all got together on sunday evening after work to enjoy ryan's special dinner and celebrate ryan's hard work.  it was yummy!  i know how hard ryan works because i see it first hand every day, but it was nice for his employers to recognize it as well.  way to go, ryan!!!

i was at my parents' house on sunday for the first time in a long time and very much enjoyed lovin' up their kitties.  lots of cuddling and petting!  this was the look i got when i stopped petting for a moment . . .

our schedules have been insane lately, especially ryan's schedule which has him up before the sun rises and home late this past week.  leko was definitely missing ryan and when ryan came home last night and sat in bed leko crawled up on him and pinned him down with a look that said "i'm never letting you leave this bed!"  oh my goodness, he was so hysterical and so cute!

yeah, leko, we agree . . . we don't want to go to work either!
