tonight is opening night for the university's musical that we've been working on nonstop for weeks. we're exhausted and so relieved that the show is finally here. fingers crossed that everything goes okay.
i think everyone thinks i'm nuts when i talk about how insane costume designing this musical has made me. i have tracked charts for each character and every single item that relates to wardrobe as it moves throughout the show. (good thing i'm an organized person!) just to prove i'm not completely nuts, i did the math.
here's "merrily we roll along" by the numbers . . .
208 individual articles of clothing
126 full outfits (not including repeated costumes)
52 accessories
49 pairs of shoes
13 pairs of socks
10 pairs of stockings
6 wigs
. . . and a countless number of bobby pins.

That's a lot of costume material, but it all looks very organized. Good luck with the whole show! I can't wait to see it tomorrow!
Wow, you may have more customs than a Broadway show. Break a leg.
